DS1: Content Management Platform v2.0

Create. Edit. Manage.

Now, the management of web site content can be placed squarely under your supervision.

Introducing the DS1 Design Content Management Platform (CMP) v2.0

You may download a concise information sheet here.

Our customized content management systems instantly will allow you to add, remove and edit dynamic content on your web site, through a graphical interface.  The content, whether it be images, hyperlinks, copy, title and/or category information - all relevant data is stored securely in a database on the web server.

A typical core installation of our Content Management System will manage all visible public areas of Text (called Documents).  Authorized users will be able to add/modify/delete content using this system.

Text input for PC users is controlled through a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) text editor, which can be switched to a programming view (shows coding markup).  This allows virtually any user to easily input and design content for on-the-fly deployment of campaigns or content revisions and additions.

Core Modules of your Content Management Platform (CMP) can include:

Administrator Login Screen

This is required so that only authorized administrators can modify content on the web site; additional programming is required to authenticate based on user login/password.

Customization will be performed so that specified users can only control content for their assigned department.

Style Sheet Administration

This area allows authorized administrators the ability to modify the font face, font size, font colors of various elements (link color, text color, title color).

This may also be designed so that users can modify the look & feel of their assigned department.

If required the user can select between multiple layouts of the existing GUI concept.

Newsletter Signup

Visitors to your web site have the ability to provide their e-mail address, which will be stored for use during future e-mail campaigns. The stored e-mail addresses may be downloaded at anytime by an authorized site administrator.

News Feed (RSS)

News articles can be added through the CMP and will be displayed on the main page of the web site (title, date). Users may click on listing for more detail (description).

RSS (most commonly translated as "Really Simple Syndication" but sometimes "Rich Site Summary") is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works - such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video - in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed" or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.

RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.

Content (Text) Pages

Content pages can consist of both text and images; these are the main pages end users will view on your web site. The limit to the amount of pages, or sub-pages you can create in the Content Management Platform is a factor of available disk space. Content pages are administered through the Hierarchical Documents Manager.

Hierarchical Documents Manager

Content pages (documents) can consist of both text and images; these are the pages end users will view on your web site.  The limit to the amount of pages, or sub-pages you can create in the Content Management Platform being mitigated by total disk space. The Hierarchical Documents Manager also includes the Link Generator - which allows the administrator to easily create links to documents within the CMP or to any external web site.

Button Generator Module

The button generator allows administrators to easily add a customized graphical button to any of the text pages.

Contents Search

Functionality is included to provide search capabilities within your web site. The end user will be able to easily search documents or content (text) pages based on a keyword and browse search results. Ability will be added to allow searching by a specific department.

Optional Modules: Document Management

Upload Manager (PDF, Word, Excel Documents)

A functional tool will be provided that allows authorized administrators to add files (PDF, Word, Excel Etc.) - although not limited to these file types, support for Video and Audio files is not available until our next revision of the programming. Using an integrated upload tool that will place and organize these documents on the web site for the end-users to view and/or download. Functionality will also be included to add links to uploaded files using the content editor.

Document Search

Documents that are added using the download manager will be searchable by end-users of the web site. This can be a separate search area or can be integrated with the contents search. Search results and links to the respective content are provided.

Dynamic Navigation Manager

Links to existing documents within the CMP or to any external web site can be easily created and added to the navigation menu of the web site.

Image "Lightbox" (Image Uploads)

Allows images to be uploaded, titled and stored online for placement into content pages.  This feature permits the user to select multiple sizes for placement into the WYSIWYG editor.

Forms Manager

Based upon required fields, the end user will be able to submit and provide feedback to the administrator of the group of web sites.  A custom thank you message appears to the end user after the form has been submitted. All forms include a "captcha" style security feature where the end-user is required to enter a 6 digit security code (which is displayed within the form) to prevent delinquent/automated form submissions.

The form will be e-mailed to any or all administrators in plain-text format, as well as being stored in the database and will consist of several required fields for the end user to fill out.

A Contact Form is included by default, where the end user will be able to submit and provide feedback.  A custom thank you message appears to the end user after the form has been submitted. Additional forms may be added based on client requirements.

Form data can be downloaded by an authorized site administrator at any time in .CSV format.

Photo Gallery

The photo gallery module will allow authorized users to create multiple photo galleries and upload images to them with ease, via a graphical interface in the administration area. The gallery system will optimize, create thumbnails and paginate the gallery listings, while ensuring the layout is clean and consistent.

Events Calendar

Implementing myPHPCalendar or Google Calendars - DS1 Design will customize the user interface and effective visual layout of the calendar application as integrated into the GUI of the web site.  The calendar will be able to be seen in the left-side navigation with the ability for the user to select the month as well as detail view of a specific event.  Only authorized web site administrators will be enabled to add/modify/remove the event postings.

Event postings include title, date, description and category.
